At Christ Community Health Services, we serve neighborhoods in Memphis where access to care has been limited for far too long. Many residents face physical and emotional challenges that go untreated simply because quality healthcare has not been available close to home.
Through God’s calling, Christ Community is standing in the gap by offering medical care, behavioral health services, and spiritual encouragement to the people we serve.
We know that true healing reaches beyond physical symptoms. While we address medical needs first, lasting change often begins when a patient experiences emotional support and spiritual hope.
Our Spiritual Health Department helps patients find strength, comfort, and encouragement through Christ. Spiritual Health Advisors meet with patients to understand their spiritual needs. These moments often become meaningful encounters where patients feel seen, heard, and supported.
Our Behavioral Health team and outreach volunteers also play a vital role by supporting individuals who may be facing anxiety, depression, substance use concerns, or other emotional challenges. Outreach efforts help connect patients to care, remove obstacles, and ensure they do not feel alone in their journey.
Patients regularly share how much this care means to them:
“It is so motivating to know somebody cares about what you are going through.”
“I have never had a doctor ask if they could pray for me. It meant so much.”
These simple acts of compassion reflect the mission of Christ Community: to care for the whole person, body, mind, and spirit.
Our goal is to maintain a distinctly Christian environment where patients and staff are prayed with and prayed for. We offer five lines of service that work together to support overall wellness:
• Medical and Primary Care
• Behavioral Health
• Spiritual Health
• Dental Care
• Pharmacy Services
Spiritual Health Advisors and Behavioral Health professionals serve alongside doctors, nurses, and care teams. This partnership strengthens our ability to provide whole-person care rooted in Christian love.
As our ministry grows, we want to ensure each health center has strong spiritual and emotional support. Volunteers help expand our reach so more patients can experience prayer, encouragement, and connection to behavioral health resources.
Many patients tell us they have never received this level of care that supports both their emotional and spiritual well-being.
Your willingness to serve helps extend hope to every person who walks through our doors.
As a volunteer in the Spiritual Health or Behavioral Health Outreach Departments, you may:
• Pray with patients who request spiritual support
• Offer encouragement during challenging moments
• Support outreach efforts that connect patients to care
• Help share educational resources related to mental, emotional, medical, and dental wellness
• Assist care teams in strengthening patient follow-up
Volunteers help bring the love of Christ into everyday interactions. When you serve others, you reflect His compassion in practical and meaningful ways.
If you feel led to partner with us, we would love to welcome you. Volunteering is a powerful way to support patients, strengthen our community, and share Christ’s love in action.
Together, we can continue offering quality care, emotional support, and spiritual encouragement that brings hope to Memphis.
