The objective
Training disciple-making family physicians to provide comprehensive obstetric care and manage complex obstetrical conditions in the context of distinctively Christian service.
Develop skills that can be used and replicated to care for underserved patients across the United States and the globe, including in a missions setting.
Clinical Responsibilities
Scheduled labor and delivery (L&D) coverage including call coverage
Intensive supervision during the first 4-6 months, with increasing independence over the final 6-8 months of fellowship
Supervised C-sections, including repeat C-sections, with goal to perform at least 100 as primary surgeon
Inpatient obstetric and gynecologic procedures such as external cephalic version, TOLAC, operative vaginal delivery, 1st through 4th degree perineal laceration repairs, twin delivery, tubal ligation, and dilation and curettage
Outpatient obstetric and gynecologic procedures such as colposcopy, LEEP, IUD insertion and removal, Nexplanon, endometrial biopsy, and obstetric ultrasound

Applicants
Applicants for the Christ Community Health Services FamilyMedicine-Obstetrics Fellowship must submit the following:
Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Personal statement expressing reason for interest
(3) letters of recommendation including Residency Program Director and at least one attending with experience supervising applicant in obstetric setting
List of procedures performed during residency and (if applicable) post-residency
USMLE and ITE scores
Medical degree
Official medical school transcript
Applications are reviewed as they are received. Phoneinterviews typically begin in mid-July, with second round of interviews in August and September.
1-2 positions are offered per year. This is not an ACGME-accredited fellowship.
To qualify for the Christ Community Health Services FamilyMedicine Obstetrics Fellowship, you must:
Hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
Have completed a three-year family medicine residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
Hold or be eligible for a Tennessee medical license
Hold or be eligible for board certification
Have a valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration Number that allows you to write prescriptions

Interview Process
The Christ Community Health Services FM-OB Fellowship hasjoined a group of 40+ programs across the country in creating the FamilyMedicine Obstetrics Fellowship Directors Association (FMOB-FDA). One of the toppriorities of the FMOB-FDA has been to reform the fellowship recruitmentprocess. The prior process pushed fellowship programs to interview and offerspots earlier and earlier each year, and pressures candidates to accept offersbefore they can complete the interview process or fully consider their options.
Therefore, the FMOB-FDA affiliated program directors haveagreed for the 2026 application cycle to the following format:
July 1, 2026: Application opening date
On or before interview day, we will require applicants to sign a statement agreeing to hold no more than 1 fellowship offer for more than 72 hours (after initial offer period) and to notify all programs at which they have interviewed when they accept a position elsewhere
September 30, 2026: All programs will have finished interviews
October 1, 2026: Programs will make initial offers to applicants
October 12, 2026: Date by which applicants will be required to respond to initial offers. (Spots will be held for applicants until this date)
After October 12, 2026, offers for unfilled positions will be sent on a rolling basis, and applicants will have 72 hours to respond before the spot is offered to another applicant.
Our goal is that candidates will be able to choose theirpreferred program and thus we will all matriculate fellows who truly wish totrain at our program.
