Pain is something we've all experienced at some point in our lives, but not all pain is the same. Whether it's caused by an injury, a chronic condition or an illness, pain is a complex experience that can significantly impact your quality of life. Understanding your pain and knowing when to seek help is an important first step toward a happier and healthier life.
Listen to what your body’s telling you
Should you go to the doctor? Should you ride out the pain in the hopes it’ll go away? Knowing the difference isn't always easy! While it's normal to experience occasional aches and pains, persistent or worsening pain shouldn't be ignored. Here are two types of pain:
● Acute pain: Short-term pain that’s typically caused by an injury
● Chronic pain: Outlasts normal healing time (3-6 months) or stems from an ongoing condition
Either way, if your pain is interfering with your daily activities, it's time to talk with a Christ Community Health Services provider.
Managing pain can involve more than just medicine
Successful treatment plans often combine a variety of approaches based on your individual needs. Depending on the severity and cause of your pain, your provider may recommend physical therapy, stretching, heat or ice therapy, stress management techniques, or lifestyle changes. If an over-the-counter medication is needed, your provider will work with you to ensure the medication is used safely and effectively.
Our healthcare professionals will collaborate with you

Our team is here to offer you encouragement and trust during every visit.
Remember, you don’t have to manage your pain alone! If it’s impacting your daily life, schedule an appointment at one of our Memphis or Jackson-area locations to discuss your symptoms and explore treatment options that can help you get back to living a more comfortable life.
