Experience healthcare for all ages of urban underserved, as you work alongside a psychologist, counselor, or social worker, in the context of distinctively Christian service. Learn what it looks like to point to Jesus as both the source of ability and the true healer, by incorporating spiritual practices into healthcare.

Practicum/Internship includes opportunities to participate in evidence-based clinical psychology and primary care mental health interventions. Applications are required at least 60 days prior to the intended start date for all behavioral health rotations, including shadowing. Due to a large number of applications for only a limited number of slots, we regret that we are unable to accommodate every student who applies.

Resident Health Service Psychology Internship

Christ Community Health Services is offering a Residential Health Service Psychology Internship for Clinical and Counseling Psychology students completing their Ph.D. or Psy.D. from APA accredited/APA eligible programs. Interested students must apply through the APPIC National Match. APPIC Match Policies are available on the APPIC Website. Applicants must register with the National Matching Service in order to be eligible to match to our program.

Clinical Pyschology Intership Training 2024-2025


Interns completing their primary rotation at Christ Community will be trained in the Behavioral Health Consultant model (BHC), a psychological approach to population-based clinical health care that is simultaneously co-located, collaborative, and integrated within the primary care clinic. Interns will be assigned a primary training clinic rotation (six shifts or 24 hours a week) for two six month appointments and will learn Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (fACT) and Motivational Interviewing/Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions for the BHC model. Additionally, Interns will have opportunity to choose a “minor” rotation (two shifts / or 8 hours a week) every three months allowing specific training in a chosen area of specialized training which could include HIV Care, Women’s Health, Diabetes and Health Behaviors, Pediatric Primary Care, Refugee/Immigrant Care, Trauma Focused Family Counseling and Parenting Support, Medication Assisted Therapy for Opiates or Homeless Services care.

Residential Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health Service Psychology

Christ Community Health Services is offering a Residential Health Service Psychology Fellowhip for Clinical and Counseling Psychology graduates who have completed their Ph.D. or Psy.D. from APA accredited/APA eligible programs, and a APPIC or APP approved clinical internship. The fellowship year consists of 2,000 hours of supervised clinical experience and is designed to satisfy the postdoctoral supervision requirements of the Tennessee State Board of Psychology as well as most other state licensing boards. The goal of the CCHS Primary Care Psychology Fellowship Program is to produce psychologists with advanced competencies in primary care psychology who are uniquely aware of the biopsychosocial needs of low-income communities in Memphis TN and the mid-south region. Fellows will be involved in supervision and didactic training in both the Behavioral Health training program and may participate in support to the Medical Education residencies in medical, dental and pharmacy.

Applicants must be eligible for Tennessee Provisional License to practice as a postdoctoral fellow prior to beginning fellowship and cannot begin fellowship until provisional license status is granted by the state of Tennessee.
